thou shall not be returning to DC...

...until the pollen count is consistently below a level 3 (allegedly it's around a 2.4 today). I nearly died this weekend. Okay, I'm being a bit dramatic. Let's just say, my eyes were in a boxing match with the DC pollen and my eyes lost. Screw you oak, maple, and birch--oh evil east coast trees!!! Times like these make me ever-so thankful that there are no trees in Harlem.

I am now home, sick :-( -- and icing my face so as to hopefully resemble my old, non-puffed, clear-eyed self by tomorrow.

I am sorry to hear you almost died. . . oddly enough my allergies have calmed down (after wreaking havoc for weeks). I checked out your favourite cupcake hot spot. Good indeed. I love the lemon ones!

this is unrelated, but back in '04 when the cicadas attacked to Dc, i fled to NY for relief, and i remember how scared i was to go back home.

lol. sorry for laughing, but I remember the cicadas from 3rd or 4th grade. The boys used to chase us girls with them during recess. I remember being disgusted by the sight of their "shells" all over the trees. So, I definitely feel u.

i had never even heard of cicadas until i moved here. I'm not sure what DC terror scared me more the cicadas or the "beltway" snipers.

asabi, i think you're right. Are there other cities that even have a cicada eruption? DC is cursed...cicadas, swamp-like heat, and politicians.
